Stanford Law School has admitted a steady stream of students with military service, and this year counts 29 veterans in its classes. The welcome veterans receive at SLS from faculty, staff, and fellow students has, according to Matt Scorcio, JD ’16, SLVO co-president, made all the difference. That support was recognized by the Department of Defense’s Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), when it honored the law school with the Seven Seals award for achievement, initiative, and support for Reserve and National Guard service members and the Above and Beyond award for extraordinary efforts on behalf of Reserve and Guard members. Officers from ESGR came to campus in April to present the awards to M. Elizabeth Magill, Richard E. Lang Professor of Law and Dean of Stanford Law School. The law school was nominated for this honor by SLVO co-founder Jake Klonoski, JD ’13, who is currently clerking for Judge Harry Pregerson of the Ninth Circuit and will be joining the DOJ Honors Program in the fall.
